She's Gone

Scarf//Target Shirt//Target Pants//Express
And just like that, she's gone, for six weeks.
She'll come back a different, more well behaved, little girl.
And I say little girl, because she'll be at camp for her birthday.

She knew something what up when she got to sleep on the bed on Friday night.
Her face read this: What the heck are you guys planning here? It's got to be something big because I'm never allowed to sleep here all night.

As I sit here and type this, I am looking at the dog hair on the wood floor thinking two things, the first I miss my little wiggles, and the second, damn I really do have to sweep and mop today.

Anyways, I had my boyfriend take pictures of she and I on the front porch before she left on Saturday morning.  I felt like a Mom sending my sixth grader to sleep away outdoor education camp or something, except I can't send my puppy snail mail or a care package.

I hope you all had a great weekend.
Mine went a little something like this.
Family Dinner. Zoey leaves. Shopping. Wedding. Daylight Savings Time.

Puppy Boarding School

So this might sound funny, and laugh all you want, but our dog, this little one...

is going to boarding school.
No she isn't crazy mis-behaved, no she's not a threat to anyone's safety,
and no she hasn't eaten all my shoes.
But we're sending her to a six week camp to 'refine' her behavior if you will.

And just to be clear, for those that are judging right now, we did take our puppy to month's of training when she was super little.  I spent an hour plus every day working with her, training her.  So  I just want to make that clear so you aren't thinking I am cop out fur Mom who doesn't want to put the effort into training her dog, etc.  Because I have put in many hours, and I will continue to do so in the future.

But while she is gone I am going to miss my Baby girl...

My running partner is taking a leave of abscence
Coming home just won't be the same without the wagging tale
I probably won't vacumn as much as I should while shes gone
Morning yawns and stretching will have to be done solo
My cuddle buddy will be MIA
Shuffling feet won't be walking down the hall all day
My camera roll will be so empty (read my instagram will be boring)
I won't get to see my darling boyfriend dote over her daily
I'll have no make up assitant
The kitchen floors might have a few more scraps on them
and the list goes on...

But what I have to think about is her lifetime.
She's going to be around for another 12+ (hopefully more) years.
She's going to be there with us through it all, family reunions, house parties, family additions, late nights, date nights, early mornings, and every day life.  She'll be there when our family grows, and she'll be shocked when we get another little puppy (in seven to eight years)...

And what shes going to learn at camp, will be a lifetime of behavior that is perfect for our family.  Perfect for what we need her to be, and that will be worth it.

Zoey Confessions: a K9 Point of View

This is my cute little puppy Zoey (aka Zoey girl)
Shes got quite the personality, and asked if she could write a guest post on my blog.
So Here She Goes:

Hi Ladies,
I'm the charming little black lab in the picture below.
Those 'white girls' (or goldens) are my cousins, oh and they happen to be sisters.
They love to play the 'third wheel' game with me, not only because of my breed, but my color as well. Some days I think it'd be easier to be a yellow lab, like Marley,
so at least we'd have something in common.
But it's really not that important I suppose. I kind of like being the 'special one'.

This weekend was my first time to the snow. My heart was not ready for the all the palpitating it did.
That stuff is like Doggie Disneyland. I could play in it for hours. Also, it's way easier to dig in, which I love, and I guess Mom and Dad don't mind if I dig it either, because they didn't yell at me for doing it. I guess it isn't part of their permanent landscape, like the flower bed I dug out a couple of weeks ago.

Anyways I was taken home in early June of this past year, and have been the center of attention ever since.  It's hard to say I don't struggle with a severe case of 'only child syndrome', Mom and Dad spoil me. I mean common, I have three dogs beds and a kennel in the 1200 square foot house.
 I'm not complaining or anything.

Mom, we both know that laundry day is my favorite. I'll steal yours and Dad's socks from the pile (clean or dirty, I don't care which) and bring them to my rug in the office where I hide until you realize I'm 'missing'. I'm sorry if you have to clean any sock bits up a few days later in the lawn, they just taste soooooo darned good.

Mom, I admit the real reason I shredded the dog bed lining you got for my kennel is because I knew if I did, I'd get something better, I have you WAYY more figured out then you think.  Low and behold, you gave me one of the soft and fuzzy winter blankets, it actually went on your bed before it was mine.  It's much more comfortable and warm. I know Ive got a good thing, so I won't be chewing a single hole in this blanket. But if you even try to buy me a replacement from Petco, rest assured I'll shred it in seconds.

This whole 'walking concept' is dumb. I pull on my leash when you walk me, because I'd rather be running.  When you put my gentle leader on, I'm embarrassed, and try my hardest to remove it from my face. I'll never stop trying Mom, imagine having something attached to your face to correct behaviors. The only human equivalent I can come up with is it's like wearing a headgear in public. There is no way to make it look good, and it's always embarrassing.

I'm sorry I have trouble 'combo-ing' my morning pee and poop. I can honestly do them both in the same trip, but I think it's so funny to make you take me out twice.  First you take me out
and wait for me to pee, then we go inside and you start something else, which is when
I cry at the door again for my morning duke.  My favorite time to do this is when you
are just about to get in the shower, because you always roll your eyes, wrap a towel around your self, and take me out begrudgingly.

Oh and the last thing, I don't pick up my back feet when I walk around at home.
Call me 'Shuffles' if you will.  My parents think it's because the whole house has wood floors and that's where I 'learned to walk'. But all things being fair, I learned to walk long before I met Mom and Dad, it's really because I am a lazy dog (at times that is).

Well I'm off, Dad just set up the new surround sound, and let's just say, it's working.
Until next time ladies...

Puppies Plural

So I'm guessing you remember when Zoey arrived!! (here
It was probably the happiest day of 2102.

And I am sure you know that there was a BiG wedding!!! (you might have seen my phones wedding memories here) Which was anther very special day this year.

Well there is yet another special day to report. You probably saw the teaser (here) on Thursday- when I told you our grew!!

I wasn't kidding.

As a surprise the newlyweds were greeted with a Golden Retriever pup angel.

And when I surprise, I mean surprise. It was not something that was even on the table as a possibility. Their faces were priceless when the little fur ball was out on their laps!!!

This little golden was one of two females in the litter- SO naturally my boyfriends parents needed one too!!!! Double trouble much???

Then we couldn't be the only three households with puppies. So the cousins got a 8 week old yellow lab!!!

Here are a few shots from the puppy play date!!

So on Wednesday we had four puppies (2 female goldens, 1 yellow lab, and Zoey) in the backyard running around!!!

Probably the cutest thing I have ever seen. And because we're all family, and because we all live close, and because we all have puppies, they are going to grow up as best friends!!!!

How fun will four pups be???

Hope you all have a fabulous Weekend!!!

And one last thing, this is what We like to call our "Mommy and Me" group!!

Obsessed: Zoey

She doesn't sit still long enough to take a good picture!

So she might be taking over all of the following things
1. iPhone pictures
2. Sleep in Mornings
3. Our bed
4. Free Time
5. Kitchen
6. Social Life

and the list goes on...

...and shes already totally worth it!!!
Second full day home and already going in her crate by herself.
Yup she's my kind of puppy.

She's new folks, you're going to be seeing lots of her in the near future.
