I Suck at Sexy

Not so sure about all of you guys, but I suck at sexy.
I mean I suck at dressing 'sexy'.

Don't get me wrong, I've worn my share of Vegas dresses, that are tight, and short, but that's not the sexy I am talking about here.
 via
Dang she's stunning, I'll probably never be that sexy!!

This is my deal:
V necks are far and few between, my dresses (minus work ones) are mostly college left overs, and date nights often consist of Target maxis, or Jeans and a 'cute' shirt.

I'm the girl that searches for the three C's when I shop.
 Comfort
Convenience
and
 Cuteness
And here is why.
Being sexy isn't a size, body shape, outfit, hair color, or make up; being sexy is
being confident and comfortable in who you are, relating and radiating towards
those around you, and confronting every day with as much 'kick' as you can give it.

To me dressing sexy is:
Feeling confident in your outfit
Loving what your wearing
Wearing something that accentuates your personality.

I feel like I do all of these things, but I'm missing something.
An element of surprise perhaps.
Something out of my comfort zone that pushes the envelope.

Anyone have a tips?
Help me!!!

WIW: I Broung the Sunshine

Oh, what's that you say?
You can't see me???
That's weird, pretty sure these pants would glow in the dark.
I am also sure it's not sure it's not spring yet, and I am dressed like it is.
And I don't even feel bad about it.
#idowhatiwant
I had to wear these pants, because I just got them at Old Navy for $8 dollars.
I am not even kidding, eight bucks for colored jeans, it should be illegal.
I didn't eve bother to try them on before I bought them.
But they are a perfect fit, clearly we were meant to be together.
Pants//Old Navy $8 (similar bright color here)
Shirt//F21 $4
Chombary//Old Navy $15 (here)
Scarf//F21 $5
Shoes//Target $20 (similar style on sale here)
You know you're flashy when the first thing your co-worker says to you is, "WoW"
It made me smile.
I would like to think, I brought the sunshine to work that day.

Me: On the iPhone

So I fell for the for iPhone update, but NOT the 5.
I'd like Apple to get all the kinks worked out before I drop a couple hundo's on a device that I'll be married to for at least two years.

Because let's be honest, my phone goes with me EVERYWHERE.
But this comes as no surprise to those who are equally obsessed with blogging, instagram, and twitter.
I showering, my phones in the bathroom.
I'm sleeping my phone is less than two feet from my head.
I'm emailing at work, my phones next to my keyboard.
I'm outside with the pup, phones in my back pocket.
It's almost disgusting.

And am super digging the 'do not disturb' setting. If you haven't updated, or have fears of updating, this feature alone makes it worth it.
 Read more about it here.

Also I think California missed the 'fall' memo.
It was 90 all week.
But I made an attempt via belt & scarf to welcome the new season!!

Hope you all had a GREAT weekend.
I spent mine at the office.
Oh and Lowes.
The joys of being a grown up...

What I Wore: Red Pants

Hope you're all having a great Wednesday!!!

Here are some snapshots, of What I Wore.
You've probably already seen that this picture made it the blog home page!
These red pants always seem make it on the blog.  Remember when I first started blogging (okay, so I am still new) and I wrote about them here????

And remember when my loving boyfriend was doing laundry for me, and washed my red jeggings, for the first time, with all the other colored laundry, and came out with pink shirts? Here?

Seems like both were not so long ago?  Where is 2012 going?

Anyways these express Jeggins might be the best ones I have found.
Buy them here.
I am sure they will become a staple in your wardrobe, as they are in mine.
I have them in denim, red, white, and charcoal wash.
Obsessed much?
Just maybe, but they can be worn so many different ways.

Other outfit details:
Tank- Target
Leopard Over Shirt/Swag: F21 (March 2011)
Sandals: Target (2011)
Watch: Michael Kors (here)
Bracelets: JCrew, F21

Weekend Congratulations!

I signed my boyfriend up for email notifications for every time I update my little blog (even though he reads most of them over my shoulder as a I type them).  This is a text I got Friday afternoon, after I posted Friday letters, and I almost died laughing....

See this post to know why he knew what Jeggings are

And my response:

Also finally got a chance to wear the dress at my LOFT extravaganza a couple of weeks ago.  We celebrated the last high school graduation for a long while.  CONGRATULATIONS Eric!!!

I got SOOOO many compliments on my dress.  My favorite a lady in the street who whispered to her friend, "Oh did you see that dress, it's so cute!!!".  Gotta love unsolicited compliments.

Dress not available online anymore :( - similar-ish here

Hope you all are enjoying the weekend with an extra day of FUN!

True Love Never Dies: All Things Anchored

Not sure if I have revealed this little fun fact yet, but I was a sorority girl in college.  Well I guess in essence I still am: it's a lifetime membership.

My three collegiate years as a Delta Gamma were the best college years.  I learned a lot, partied more a lot, and met my best friend.  'Our' symbol is the anchor, and thus half my college wardrobe had a embossed/embroidered/imprinted anchor on it.  And ANY anchor accessory was treated as gold.

Once an obsessed, always obsessed.  Today when I walked into World Market, I was almost hit in the face: All Thing Anchored.  And I loved it!
I resisted the urge to buy anything for myself (or others) today, but know I will be back there in the near future!!!

What I wore was unintentionally sailor/anchor esqe. (OTTD blue and white) although I didn't realize it. Gotta love Steve Madden espadrilles (here).  Thanks Nordstrom :)

Happy Hump Day!!!

Nice Sunnies - Totally Worth It

I've never had nice sun glasses, I have always loved the

f21 $4.80 aviators

sunnies from the vendors on the street in Venice beach, etc.

and the staple $10 pair from Nordstrom- B.P.,

I have never invested lots of $$$$ on my glasses in fear I would absent mindedly leave them someplace like the nets baskets in cars of Thunder Mountain in Disneyland, carried away by the waves in Cinque Terre, or on top of the car while loading things up - ALL of which I have done.

My boyfriend surprised me with BEAUTIFUL Raybands for Valentines Day (even after we said NO gifts) and they are GREAT.  They fit great, and look great on my face!!! As I mentioned before, I've never owned a nice pair, and now that I do I feel SO Grown UP!!! and Fancy.

If you've never owned a pair I would recommend getting yourself a pair (polarized, it really does make a difference).

They are totally worth it!!!

To ensure they always end up in the same place, he bought me a special case to leave them in- it's been the key to success (aka not loosing them) thus far.  Let's hope it says that way.

A New Point of VIEW

I have reading glasses that I can wear all the time if I want to look smart

Sounds silly but sometimes glasses are all you need to perk up an outfit, a iwokeuptoolatetodoallmymakeup type morning, or just because your eyes are feeling a bit tired that day.

My co-worker was ordering glasses and she founds this awesome site www.warbyparker.com.

The frames have a super retro/old school vibe, but are so cute.

See some samples below:

BEST PART IS: You can order 5 pairs of frames and try them on FOR FREE before you buy them. You pick the five frames, Warby sends them, you try them, and send them back 5 days later.  I did this (with my co-worker) and we wore different ones around work for a week.

Then simply send them your prescription, and for only $95 bucks you have a fun and funky second pair of glasses.

I got the Huxleys in Sandalwood. I love 'em, and get compliments on them EVERY time I wear them!

If you wear glasses, I highly recommend these!

New for Me: Maxi

Haven't ever hopped on this maxi train.  I am so weary of the whole thing.

Will I look short? fat?
Will it all fall in the toilet when I go the bathroom? (that's a lot to gather up if you know what I mean)
Will I trip over it?

You get the picture.

But Target sold me on the one for $17.99 (buy here)

I am diggin' it.

Probably not an every day trend for me, but I will say I seriously underestimated the comfort level of these things.

All jewelry is forever21 (duh!!!) with the exception of the heart bracelet (below) which is Brighton, and given to me for college graduation.  I can't believe I have already been out for two years....how time flies.

What NEW (to you) fashion trend have you tried recently?

If you haven't get out there, it's more fun that one would think!!!!

White Pants 2.0

So I have been loving my white jeans recently, remind me why I shied away from these before?

Went out to a dinner with some friends last night and had to do a quick change from work :( to play :)

Here is what I came up with:

Jeans: Express (buy here)
Shirt: Brass Plum (Nordstrom) from for-ev-er ago, I hardly wear it.
Jean Jacket: GAP from even for-ev-er-er ago (read circa 2002?)
Shoes: Steve Madden (Thanks Zappos, you rock!) Also 2 years ago
Bracelets: Black- Nordstrom Brass Plum, Bangles Forever 21 (similar here)

I guess I am really dating my wardrobe.  I swear not everything I own is that old, but I guess it was just throw back day.  Hope you all had a great Friday.  Our night ended less than seven hours ago so you know it was a success.

Style Improvement?

So...I haven't been part of this blogging world for very long- but since I have  joined I CAN NOT stop finding new style blogs that I like.  It's inspirational and fun to see how other people wear their wardrobes, and what combinations they come up with.

Here are some of the blogs I have been following since I've joined: Lilly's Style, Sequins and Stilettos, Mini Me Style, and Olive and an Arrow.  Check them all out when you get a chance.

Since my followings, I have come up with new creative ways to wear what I have.  So thank you all for your contributions to my style.  Here is my first attempt a 'new' outfit.  To me this 'new' outfit is just items I have owned for a while that have never been worn together.

I know it's not super stylish, but I am getting there. I think?

Pants: LOFT- 40% from Jan (currently on SUPER SALE here)
Shirt: Target $8 Long and Lean tank that every girl should own in 10 colors
Belt: Target Clearance $8 bucks
Short Sleeve Over Shirt: F21 (2 years ago!!!)
Shoes: Target (4 years ago....)

Happy Hump Wednesday!!!

Business Casual Work Shorts?

I have been saving these in the depths of my closet until the weather was finally hot enough to wear them.

Well hello 80 degrees, and hello work 'dress' shorts? My question is- DO THEY WORK???

I am always trying to find ways to alter the standard 'business wear'- make it more comfortable, stylish, fun, etc. But I am thinking these might be toeing the line. I found them at TJ Maxx for $15, and they are Banana Republic which gave me the affirmation that yes some serious women wear these, so go ahead, buy 'em. I am just so tired of wearing the standard long skirts or capris to work in the late spring and summer.

They are totally comfortable, still conservative, and Banana Republic soooooo let me know what you think- Okay for work, yes or no?

P.S. Remember all those fabulous Spring accessories I found at forever 21? (See here) Well like I thought when I bought them, the earrings are wayyy more my speed feather- less :)

My beau and I are going out for dinner tonight (insert fancy martini drink/cocktail and excuse to wear my new dress here) to a restaurant we have never been too.

I'm excited.

It's sunny and beautiful here. I hope you all are having a great weekend.

Thursday: IN or OUT

Justin Bieber's New Single Boyfriend- IN

And J. Biebs has done it again (listen here). Another catchy, trendy, beat that will be played out on the radio in the next two weeks. We were listening to it in the car the other day and a friend commented, "About time he does it (a wrap/talking), if you are a product of Usher, you can't just NOT do it." I agree with my friend, and also want to note that Mr. Bieber is growing up, if you were to mirror his career with B. Spears, he's in the 'I'm a Slave for You' Phase...anyone agree?

Starbucks- OUT-

I can't quite remember when it happened, but 'Starbs' raised their prices again, and not it's just too much. A nice $5 gift card buys one drink with 15 cents change left on it. No thanks. These days, as noted here, I am caffine free (for the most part, I have my occasional mid week Go Girl), and the want/need for Starbucks has diminished. Also I just can't believe what they are charging per drink- Dunkin' is WAY better, and WAY cheaper- is it too much to ask for them to be on the West Coast. But all things being fair, we have In 'n Out so I guess I can't complain.

White Jeans- IN-

I am wearing some today :) Thank you Express for making a jean that I now own in 4 colors (remember this post, same jean, shhh, don't tell). I was skeptical at first, because I have been married to my black slimming skinnies for a long time, what would white do for my legs? I always wondered. I bought these and love 'em. I usually wear them like I did today, with a wedge. Cute, trendy, fun and very Spring and Summer (and with temps of 78 I feel like they are a-okay). Note- There are no front pockets, which always gets me when I put these on, but it's so you don't see the pocket liner through the pants. When you wear 'em just BE SURE you're wearing a good pair of undies. VPL is a major issue if you are not careful.

Angelia, Brad's Fiance- OUT-

I've never liked her (who would date and self inscribe Billy Bob Thornton name on themselves), I don't think she is all that talented, and she does not have the world's best lips. Okay enough soap box. BUT Let's be honest this is all so cliche- fell in love on set, adopted kids, and have a charming mixed super star family.... That's enough about them- I'm over Brangelina.

Crop Shirts- OUT-

I try to be stylish, but this one I can NOT stand behind. I just get confused, do I wear a shirt under, or not? Why do cropped long sleeves exist? Also for people, like myself, who have bodies that are ill proportioned (insert obnoxiously long torso here please) crop shirts leave you looking confused. A shirt that only covers your boobs with a shirt under????? Yeah I can't even write about them- this is how much they confuse me.

What are you IN or OUT on?
